This is an installation I put up along a footpath at Haystack Mountain School in Deer Isle, Maine in October of 2001. The lamps were battery powered and driven by some homemade dimmers, relays and a twelve pound 80/88 “laptop”.

These structures were built at Haystack in 2000. They are constructed of drywall corner bead and zip ties. The taller configuration was installed so that the tide washed over the lower sections creating a spire sticking out of the ocean.
